Autism Testing for Adults

At Lumos Developmental Clinic, we understand the challenges and uncertainties that come with pursuing an autism diagnosis in adulthood. This is why we are dedicated to offering thorough and comprehensive assessments specifically tailored for adults. Our assessments are designed to diagnose autism through a process that is both respectful and precise, ensuring that each client receives the attention and care they need.

Our unique assessment process can be conducted entirely remotely, allowing clients to engage in this important step from the comfort of their homes. Individuals that prefer meeting in person can also book assessments at our offices in Kelowna. Our experienced clinicians conduct structured clinical interviews and behavioral observation sessions. These procedures have been meticulously crafted for adult clients, ensuring that the process is relevant and sensitive to the adult experience of autism.

In addition to the interviews and observations, a variety of psychological tests are administered to aid in the diagnosis of autism. These tests are selected carefully to pinpoint characteristics and behaviors associated with autism in adults.

To augment the information gathered during the sessions, clients and others who know them well will be asked to complete a range of questionnaires. These questionnaires provide invaluable insights, adding depth to our understanding and helping to paint a fuller picture of each client’s unique experiences and traits.

The culmination of this process is a comprehensive report detailing the findings of the assessment. Should a client meet the criteria for autism, this report not only serves as a confirmation of the diagnosis but also as a crucial tool. It can be used to apply for workplace and school accommodations, championing the client’s needs and facilitating a more supportive environment for their success and wellbeing.

At Lumos Developmental Clinic, we are committed to providing assessments that empower adults to understand their unique neurodiversity. With our support, clients can unlock pathways to tailored support and accommodations, leading to improved quality of life and a deeper understanding of themselves.
