ADHD Testing for Children and Adolescents

At Lumos Developmental Clinic, we understand that Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a complex neurodevelopmental disorder that impacts the lives of children and adolescents in significant ways. Recognizing that ADHD cannot—and should not—be diagnosed merely through a brief conversation and basic checklists, we offer comprehensive, in-depth assessments tailored specifically to each client’s developmental stage.

Our approach to diagnosing ADHD goes beyond surface-level observations. We employ an exhaustive evaluation process that begins with a structured interview involving both the child/adolescent and a parent. This is complemented by extensive psychological and neuropsychological testing to examine the cognitive processes underpinning ADHD. By doing so, we gain a holistic understanding of your child’s unique profile.

We also value the insights from those who know your child well. Gathering additional information from teachers, coaches, or family friends allows us to paint a fuller picture of your child’s behaviour in various settings.

The culmination of this meticulous process is a comprehensive report detailing the findings of our assessment. This report not only outlines recommended treatments that are personalized to your child’s specific needs but also provides the necessary documentation to apply for accommodations and assistance at school. Our goal is to ensure that children and adolescents are not misdiagnosed or given inappropriate treatment but are instead provided with the support they need to thrive.

Our ADHD Testing for adolescents and children aged 6 years and up can be conducted either in-person at our offices in Kelowna, or entirely remotely via teleconferencing.
