Do I have to live in a particular location to use your services?
Yes. Our psychologists are currently licensed to provide services throughout the Canadian provinces of Alberta, British Columbia, Ontario, New Brunswick, and Nova Scotia, as well as the territory of Nunavut. At the time of the assessment, you must be physically located in one of these provinces. As we expand and add additional clinicians, we will be able to serve more jurisdictions.
Will the assessment be provided by a licensed health professional?
Yes. All assessments are conducted by appropriately licensed psychologists. While some parts of the testing may be administered by a psychometrist or other health provider working under a psychologist’s supervision, your psychologist will conduct all clinical interviews, interpret all test results, and make all appropriate diagnoses and recommendations.
What does verbally fluent mean?
Remote assessments are best suited to clients who can communicate in full sentences. As such, we can only work with adolescents and adults who are ‘verbally fluent’, defined as able to speak in full sentences of 5 or more words.
Is there a waitlist for your services?
As there is a shortage of qualified providers who can conduct thorough autism assessments, we do at times have to keep a waitlist. Currently our waitlist is quite short, and we can schedule assessments within 2 months from the date of your initial enquiry.
How does payment work?
Once you decide to seek an assessment with us, we will send you an invite to create a private profile through our private, encrypted practice management portal. You will be asked enter credit card details into your unique portal, which is a requirement for booking appointments. When you are ready to begin the process, we will send you the initial paperwork, forms, and questionnaires, and charge an initial deposit of $480.00 to your card. Half of the remaining balance will be charged on the day of your first assessment appointment, and the other half will be charged on the day of your second assessment appointment.
What is your no-show policy?
If you need to cancel an assessment session, we require a minimum of 3 business days’ notice. Failure to cancel an appointment with 3 or more days’ notice will result in a no-show charge of $480.00 for the 2 clinical hours that were booked for you on that day. The regular, full assessment fee will then be charged on the day of your newly rescheduled appointment.
Do you offer assessments for younger or non-verbal children?
Unfortunately, no. Very young children or those who have not yet developed verbal fluency are best served by in-person providers as remote assessment methods may fail to address their unique needs. At this time, we have not been able to identify technology that would enable us to offer our services to this population.
